Since the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital takeover in 2022, Chelsea have operated a heavily youth focused transfer policy.
Whilst the Blues have signed some good players, it’s become increasingly evident the squad lacks what it takes to compete at the top level.
Despite spending well over £1bn on players since the takeover, the squad simply isn’t fit for purpose, and can’t simultaneously compete in the Premier League and Champions League.
Fans have become increasingly frustrated with the approach in the transfer market, whilst Marc Cucurella criticised the project over the international break.
The Blues face a critical summer where they simply have to get things right, and Romano has revealed they are open to adding more experienced players.
“Chelsea expect to be busy in the summer transfer window with different kind of players,” he told his YouTube channel.
“Chelsea will not leave their structure and their idea of investing in top talents, in players with big potential.
“This will remain as part of the Chelsea project, but Chelsea are open to adding to the squad also experienced players, players who can be ready to make an impact immediately at Chelsea.
“So this is going to be in addition to what they are doing with young talents.
“They are not leaving that route, but they want to add also more experienced players. So I expect Chelsea to be busy.”

The 25-year-old is understood to be disappointed with the decision, and his agent Javier Pastore wasn’t impressed with the sanction.
It’s hard to imagine this helping Fernandez when it comes to deciding his future, but only time will tell whether he stays or goes this summer.
