With the international break in full swing, we can zoom out a little and take a look ahead to Chelsea’s summer plans.

The last few weeks have seen some worrying whispers that Josh Acheampong could be sold, and we can understand why. Despite injuries and some dreadful performances from senior players in our defence, the academy talent continues to be overlooked.

Our last game saw left back Jorrel Hato used centrally, rather than Josh in his natural position. That must be so frustrating for a young talent who has waited patiently for a breakthrough..

Acheampong sale not on the cards – yet

The good news is that Chelsea are not considering selling Acheampong – at least according to the Evening Standard.

“There is no interest at Stamford Bridge in a sale,” Dom Smith writes.

That doesn’t mean the youngster won’t start pushing for a move eventually, but with a contract running until 2029, the Blues remain in a strong position. We just have to start giving the 19 year old the respect he deserves with more chances.

If we’re going to get beaten every week, we’d rather do it with Josh playing his heart out than Wesley Fofana not being bothered to run back.

In other news…

Jamie Carragher’s horrible prediction for Chelsea’s key players will have fans really worried – we know he may have a point.

One recent big departure from Chelsea is not having everything his own way at his new home.
