Burnley were relegated from the Premier League last season after an incredibly disappointing campaign, and they suffered a huge blow in May as manager Vincent Kompany made a shock move to German giants Bayern Munich.

Scott Parker, who has previously won two promotions from the Championship with Fulham and Bournemouth, was appointed as Kompany's replacement, and it has been a busy summer as the 43-year-old rebuilds his squad, with seven new players arriving at Turf Moor so far.

There have also been some high profile departures, including Aro Muric, Wilson Odobert and Scott Twine, and there could be further exits before the end of the transfer window, with the likes of Dara O'Shea, Vitinho, Sander Berge, Han-Noah Massengo and Manuel Benson all said to be attracting interest from elsewhere.

It has been an excellent start to life back in the Championship for the Clarets, and they currently sit top of the table after winning their opening two games of the season, scoring nine goals in the process.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, via NewBettingSites.uk, Waddle said that Burnley will achieve promotion from the Championship this season, although he believes it will get tougher for the Clarets over the course of the campaign.

"I definitely have Burnley to go up this year," Waddle said.

"When people asked me for my predictions for the league, I definitely said Burnley will get out, I'm not sure about Luton.

"It's hard when you come down to go straight back up, I know some teams do it.

"With Burnley, I know they've sold a few players, but they've brought players in and I think they've got enough in that squad. "They've proven already that they can score goals. "It has always been that if you can score goals in the Championship, you'll get out of it, and nine goals in two games is a great start, you cannot ask for anything better than that. "Scott Parker is quite an experienced manager, he's been around and he'll be enjoying what he's seeing. "They're not a possession team as much as they were under the previous manager, they're quite happy to give the ball away, they get behind the ball and they're very good on the counter attack. "It remains to be seen whether teams work them out and think 'we're not going to leave gaps all over the park that you can exploit'. "It's going to get tougher for them because they've come out of the blocks quickly and a lot of people have respect for them, but you can see the game plan at the minute is to get behind the ball.

"They've got a lot of pace, they've obviously got quality in the side for that league and they hit teams on the break."

Burnley form will be concerning for the rest of the Championship

After their outstanding start to the season, it is difficult to disagree with Waddle that Burnley will win promotion this season.

The Clarets may not be dominating possession in the same way they did under Kompany, but Parker's style of play has been incredibly effective so far this campaign, and they have some of the best attacking options in the division.

Some Burnley supporters may have had reservations over the appointment of Parker, but he has proven previously that he can guide teams to the Premier League, and on the early evidence, it would be no surprise to see him do the same again at Turf Moor.

With a number of players currently being linked with a move away, the Clarets must ensure that they do not leave themselves light in key areas, but they have a lot of depth in the squad, and they may look to strengthen further before the end of the window.
