So far this summer Manchester City have signed six players. Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, Marcus Bettinelli, Tijjani Reijnders, Sverre Nypan and James Trafford have all arrived at the Etihad. In the case of Ait-Nouri, Cherki, Reijnders and Trafford they all figure to be prominent players for Pep Guardiola’s side next season. Marcus Bettinelli will take the place of Scott Carson who was an invaluable member of the City squad during his time at the club. Sverre Nypan will likely spend next season out on loan to further his development.
To cater for the arrivals of Ait-Nouri, Cherki, Reijnders and James Trafford players will have to leave Manchester City this summer. A new report indicates who is likely to leave City this summer. It would seem that there is now clarification surrounding the biggest question marks surrounding Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Jack Gaughan has named seven players who look set to leave Manchester City in the coming weeks in a new report for the Daily Mail. As per Gaughan’s report loan moves beckon for Sverre Nypan, Claudio Echeverri and Vitor Reis. Furthermore, Gaughan further reports that it is unlikely that Claudio Echeverri will head to Roma on loan for next season.
Stefan Ortega is also likely to leave Manchester City this summer as per Jack Gaughan’s report. Manchester City will enter next season with Ederson and James Trafford as their goalkeepers. This means that Stefan Ortega is surplus to requirements. Lastly, James McAtee, Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips are the other three players who are likely to leave City this summer as per Jack Gaughan’s report.
Based on Jack Gaughan’s new report it would appear that Manchester City’s squad is taking shape for the 25/26 season. If the seven players named in Gaughan’s report do leave City Pep Guardiola will enter next season with the smaller squad he desires. In the case of Echeverri, Vitor Reis, and Sverre Nypan, loan moves will aid their development as players. All three players are expected to be prominent players for Manchester City in the future. But the future hasn’t arrived just yet.
Stefan Ortega deserves the opportunity to be a number-one goalkeeper elsewhere. His contribution to Manchester City has been profound and the hope is that he can find a permanent move in the coming weeks. James McAtee, Jack Grealish, and Kalvin Phillips should all secure moves by the close of the transfer window, which will be a relief to them and the City hierarchy. All three players deserve the opportunity to play regularly elsewhere. That should arrive this summer given their quality as players.
Jack Gaughan’s report does provide clarity as to who could leave Manchester City in the coming weeks. It will now be interesting to see if the players named do leave City. There is no reason to think that they won’t. The seven players named do appear to be the obvious candidates to leave City based on City’s needs for next season.
