Real Oviedo completed their final session at the Carlos Tartiere before travelling to San Sebastián for a 14:00 date with Real Sociedad at Anoeta, with Guillermo Almada naming his squad. As reported by AS, the list omits Santiago Colombatto, David Costas and Ovie Ejaria.
Colombatto is suspended after collecting his fifth yellow card, a notable absence given his importance. Costas is injured, while Ejaria has rejoined group work but is not yet ready for minutes.
Oviedo arrive short of form against a Real side that has looked dangerous since Matarazzo’s arrival. Last weekend’s 1-2 defeat to Athletic at the Tartiere stung, with Oviedo on top before costly errors halted their attempted reaction.
Almada has two candidates to anchor midfield in Colombatto’s place, Nico Fonseca or Leander Dendoncker. Based on recent roles, Fonseca appears more likely to start. If picked, it would be his first start since joining in the winter window on loan from Club León, having featured in every game so far from the bench. Dendoncker, a regular under Paunovic and Carrión, has had a reduced role under Almada.
Almada said defeats always hit and he maintained the Athletic loss felt unfair, urging defiance, energy and better football. He noted Oviedo had five shots to Athletic’s four but were undone by the visitors’ efficiency and their own mistakes, and he wants to increase the team’s overall output.
