Carlos Corberán has set Valencia the aim of sustaining their second-half revival to finish as high as possible, speaking before Sunday’s meeting with Alavés at 21:00 in Mestalla.

According to Superdeporte, Valencia have taken 12 points from seven second-half games, just five fewer than the 17 earned across 19 matches in the opening stretch. On second-half form alone they would be seventh, behind Real Madrid, Barcelona, Osasuna, Betis, Real Sociedad and Atlético de Madrid.

Corberán’s side won three times in the first half of the season, against Getafe, Athletic and Levante. They already have four wins in this phase, over Getafe, Espanyol, Levante and Osasuna.

Asked about demands beyond the game-by-game approach, he set the benchmark as maintaining the levels shown since the turn. That stance is framed by the club ranking eighth for LaLiga’s financial fair play squad cost limit.

He cautioned that published limits can be misleading, arguing the cap differs from actual spend and is not necessarily indicative. He also implied Valencia may not have reached their limit and could sit below eighth in real squad cost. Corberán described ambition as high, with Alavés the immediate focus, and said prolonging the run depends on sustaining commitment, standards and values.
