Corinthians are close to signing midfielder Alisson from São Paulo on loan until the end of 2026 after agreeing to pay R$ 1.5 million, with an option to buy. According to Meu Timao, the clubs are now discussing how the fee will be paid and Corinthians are expected to cover his wages.
Talks have gone back and forth in recent days. Corinthians first explored a player swap, then a two-season free loan, but neither advanced. São Paulo now want compensation to release the midfielder.
Alisson worked under Dorival Júnior at São Paulo and earned the coach’s trust. Converted from forward, he became a versatile midfielder and was important in the 2023 Copa do Brasil triumph.
Last season he made 52 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists. In 2026 he sat out São Paulo’s last two matches amid negotiations, including the Majestoso on Sunday. Rival head coach Hernán Crespo and Dorival Júnior have confirmed the talks.
Corinthians have already added centre-back Gabriel Paulista, midfielder Matheus Pereira and right-back Pedro Milans. Deals are also in place for forward Kaio César and goalkeeper João Ricardo.
