Corinthians begin removing seats in Setor Sul at Neo Química Arena | OneFootball

Corinthians began removing seats from the Setor Sul of the Neo Química Arena on Friday, part of a project to increase stadium capacity. According to Meu Timao, the intervention marks the start of a wider expansion plan.

The works have been authorised by the relevant public bodies after joint efforts between the club’s Executive Board and the arena’s management. Despite the start, the Setor Sul capacity remains 7,406 for now.

Once all stages are completed and the required clearances are granted, the Setor Sul could accommodate 9,083 supporters.

Corinthians are also working to expand the Leste Superior, with Indigo agreeing to fund around 2,000 additional seats. The project still depends on safety approvals, and unlike the temporary structures used during the 2014 World Cup and NFL games, this build will be permanent, in masonry.

With both interventions, the club projects an overall capacity of roughly 55,000 at the Neo Química Arena. The venue currently holds up to 48,905.
