Corinthians bolster squad for Copinha knockout stage

Qualified for the knockout stage of the 2026 São Paulo Junior Football Cup, Corinthians has begun preparations for the competition's knockout phase and will welcome back forward João Guilherme Drude, who was in São Paulo, to the squad that remains in Jaú. The information was released by Meu Timão.

The club chose not to bring all 30 registered players at the start of the tournament. With the integration of João Vitor Jacaré, Luiz Gustavo Bahia, and Gui Amorim into the professional squad, three of the five players who stayed at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava have joined the Copinha group. Currently, only defender Rodrigo Gelado is not part of the delegation.

Drude belongs to the 2007 generation and has been playing in Corinthians' youth categories since the Under-15. The forward is most frequently used on the left side of the attack but can also play on the right. With a contract valid until August 7, the player seeks to establish himself in the competition as a way to secure a contract renewal with the club.

In the 2025 season, Drude played 12 matches for Corinthians' Under-20 team. The team achieved seven wins, one draw, and four losses in the games where the forward was on the field. The player scored one goal, received two yellow cards, and was not sent off during this period.

Corinthians returns to the field for the second phase of the Copinha next Monday (12), when they face Guarani in an elimination match in Jaú.
