Corinthians boss to miss next two Brasileirão matches

Corinthians went to Beira-Rio Stadium this Wednesday, October 1st, to face Internacional in a match valid for the 26th round of the Brasileirão and ended up drawing 1-1. The Corinthians goal was scored by forward Gui Negão. The draw, however, left the Alvinegro only in 13th place with 30 points (seven wins, nine draws, and ten losses – 26 goals scored and 32 conceded).

After a penalty was awarded to Internacional in the match's added time, coach Dorival Júnior ended up being sent off – he had already received a yellow card shortly before – after a series of complaints directed at referee Rodrigo José Pereira de Lima. Having received a yellow followed by a red card, the coach will miss the next two rounds of the national competition in the technical area for Corinthians.

In light of this, his son and assistant coach, Lucas Silvestre, will lead the Alvinegro in the matches against Mirassol, this Saturday (4th), at 9 PM (Brasília time), in Itaquera, for the 27th round, against Mirassol, and on the next 15th, Wednesday, at 9:30 PM (Brasília time), against Santos, at Vila Belmiro, for the 28th round.

Article 97 of the CBF Competition Regulations states: “II – when the yellow card preceding the direct red card is the third in the series, the athlete or member of the Technical Commission will be sanctioned with 2 (two) automatic suspensions, the first for receiving the red card and the second for the sequence of 3 (three) yellow cards.”

At the 50th minute, Corinthians defender Cacá was involved in a ball dispute with Internacional midfielder Bruno Henrique, and after video refereeing review, the penalty was awarded.
