Corinthians extend Jacaré’s deal to 2029, full-back celebrates

The morning of this Monday, the 8th, brought yet another piece of good news for Corinthians. Shortly after announcing the renewal of defender Gustavo Henrique, the club confirmed at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava the extension of right-back João Vitor ‘Jacaré’s contract until October 31, 2029.

The new deal sets a release clause of R$ 72 million for the domestic market and 100 million euros for the international market. A product of the club’s youth academy and known as the “Son of Terrão,” João Vitor ‘Jacaré’ did not hide his excitement about the new contract and promised maximum dedication to defend Timão.

“I want to thank God, glorify and exalt the name of the Lord. It’s a joy to renew with Corinthians, to keep writing my story at this club. My dream is to help. I want to tell the Fiel that there will be no lack of grit and determination. I hope to win titles wearing the Corinthians shirt and help this great club,” said the full-back.

At 18 years old, the youngster is already training with the first team under Dorival Júnior, has played for the professional squad this year, and celebrated the opportunity to learn from more experienced players in the squad.

“It’s been an incredible experience. Coach Dorival has been helping me. All the players have been giving me a lot of guidance. Not just me, but all the boys who moved up as well,” he said.

Negotiations for the renewal had stalled at one point, which led Jacaré to return to training with the youth team. With the agreement reached, the full-back returned to training normally with the professional squad.

Valuing young athletes has been a priority for Corinthians. After the departure of Kauê Furquim, the club sped up the renewals of Gui Amorim, André Luiz, and Nícollas, all with increased release clauses.

At 18, João Vitor has been closely monitored by coach Dorival Júnior. He has already played two matches for the first team: his debut was in February against Novorizontino in the Campeonato Paulista, and his second appearance was in the draw against Portuguesa.

Promoted to the U-20 squad this year, Jacaré alternated the starting spot with Gabriel Caipira, 20 years old and team captain. In the professional squad, with Matheuzinho currently the only natural right-back, the youngster could become the immediate backup.
