Leaders of Gaviões da Fiel visited CT Joaquim Grava on Thursday morning to demand explanations from Corinthians players, staff and directors after the 3-1 defeat to Fluminense at the Maracanã, with the team winless in eight.

The meeting took place inside the training centre and had a demanding tone. The club said supporters were permitted entry. They called for an immediate change of attitude and voiced anger at recent performances.

Protests had already begun in Rio on Wednesday, despite 10 days without matches during the FIFA window. Corinthians produced another poor display and were second best from start to finish.

Corinthians remain on 10 points in 11th place, three above the relegation zone. Only reserves and players who featured for fewer than 45 minutes took part in Thursday’s session at CT Joaquim Grava.

They host Internacional on Sunday at 19:30, Brasília time, at Neo Química Arena in the 10th round of the Brasileirão. The match is seen as decisive for head coach Dorival Júnior, who needs to halt the winless run to stay in charge.

In the final stage of recovery from a right thigh muscle injury, Kaio César began on-field transition work and trained with the ball on Thursday. The expectation is he will remain out for the next three matches, against Internacional, Platense of Argentina, and Palmeiras. Midfielder Gui Amorim had an MRI on Thursday that showed a grade 2 medial collateral ligament injury in his right knee.
