Corinthians finish prep with tactical session before Santos derby

Corinthians takes the field this Thursday (22) to play another classic in the Paulista Championship. For the fourth round of the competition, Timão faces Santos at 7:30 p.m. (Brasília time) at Vila Belmiro.

The Alvinegro squad finished their preparations on the morning of this Wednesday (21) at the Dr. Joaquim Grava Training Center. The activities began with a video session focused on tactical instructions, followed by physical work in the gym and warm-ups on the field. Next, coach Dorival Júnior led tactical drills on a reduced field, as well as strategic adjustments focusing on offensive organization. The training also included set-piece rehearsals and penalty kicks.

Before the match, midfielder Raniele highlighted the importance of a more dominant approach away from home to increase the chances of a positive result in the classic.

“May we play a much better game than the last one we played there (Vila Belmiro). We know the start of the match is very important. We’ll try to start the game with more energy, at a higher pace, so that we can try to control the match and come out victorious,” said Raniele.

“Santos has great players, with careers that speak for themselves. They have an excellent coach. We need to be careful with their collective play, which is undoubtedly what can pose the most danger to us. May we be able to neutralize that and enhance our positive points,” he added.

Last season, Corinthians and Santos faced each other four times, with Corinthians having the advantage in three of them. In the Paulista Championship, Timão won both encounters, including the semifinal. In the Brasileirão, the teams split the results, with one win each.
