Dorival Júnior was unfazed by Corinthians moving their Brasileirão opener to Vila Belmiro to face Bahia. According to Meu Timao, the club agreed with the CBF and Santos to bring the fixture forward and stage it there to match Flamengo’s three days of rest before the Supercopa on one February.
He said the switch was necessary because other games in São Paulo would have blocked the change, and that playing in Vila Belmiro would equalise conditions with Flamengo. Dorival spoke after the 1-1 draw with São Paulo at Neo Química Arena on Sunday.
Corinthians qualified for the Supercopa by winning the 2025 Copa do Brasil, their fourth triumph in the competition. Flamengo won last season’s Campeonato Brasileiro, and this will be Corinthians’ first Supercopa appearance since the tournament was reactivated in 2020.
The Supercopa will be decided in a single match at Mané Garrincha in Brasília, a neutral venue. Tickets are on sale from R$ 378 to R$ 798, with kick-off at 16h on Sunday one February.
In the league, Corinthians meet Bahia on Wednesday 28 January at 20h. February brings Red Bull Bragantino, Athletico-PR and Cruzeiro. They also prepare to face Santos this Thursday, also at Vila Belmiro.
