Corinthians idol says Jesse Lingard was walking against Santa Fe | OneFootball

Corinthians idol Neto has criticised Jesse Lingard’s performance in Thursday’s 1-1 draw with Santa Fe of Colombia.

"O Lingard anda em campo, não corre. Não tem nenhum tipo de vontade de jogar", said Neto to Rádio Craque Neto.

Lingard played the full 90 minutes and completed 39 of 43 passes. Fernando Diniz said in his press conference that it was one of the Englishman’s best displays, noting decisive moments and his work-rate. The tie, a Libertadores quarter-final, was played at Estádio El Campín, 2,640 metres above sea level.

Lingard was unveiled by Corinthians on six March and debuted on one April in a 3-1 defeat to Fluminense. He had not played since December 2025 after leaving FC Seoul, and underwent physical readaptation.

He has logged 485 minutes across 11 matches, scoring two goals. One sealed a 1-0 win over Barra in the Copa do Brasil, the other was the second in victory against Peñarol in the Libertadores.

The midfielder will be available to face São Paulo on Sunday at 18:30 in the 15th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro.
