Corinthians loanee Diego Palacios has gone more than a month without playing for Universidad Católica in Ecuador, despite not being injured, and has missed the club's last three games.

According to Meu Timao, the 26-year-old, on loan until the end of 2026, was unveiled on 24 January and featured off the bench the next day in a friendly against Sporting Cristal of Peru.

He then made a 12-minute cameo on 5 February in a 1-0 win over Juventud of Uruguay in the Libertadores qualifying rounds.

He has not featured since. Palacios was an unused substitute in the return leg against Juventud, when Católica went out on penalties, then was omitted for league fixtures against Mushuc Runa and Leones del Norte on Sunday.

Corinthians signed Palacios in 2024 as first-choice left-back after a standout spell with Los Angeles FC, tying him to a deal until December 2027.

Persistent issues with his left knee restricted him to four matches in two years and even prompted scrutiny of the club's medical department.

In August last year he was loaned to Karpaty in Ukraine, where he played only two games in six months and dropped out of squads from October 2025.

In January, Corinthians agreed his switch to Universidad Católica, projecting wage savings of about R$ 2.6 million. He now awaits another chance in the Ecuadorian league, the club's only competition left.
