Corinthians striker shines in Netherlands, impresses in qualifiers

The forward Memphis Depay, from Corinthians, concluded his period of performances for the Dutch national team in 2025, maintaining numbers that draw attention both in Europe and Brazil. According to a survey by journalist Tomás Rosolino, the number 10 ranks among the top scorers of the last two UEFA Qualifiers: he scored 20 goals for the Netherlands, a mark that places him in second place alongside Harry Kane, only behind Erling Haaland, who has 21.

Depay was on the field in the 4-0 victory over Lithuania in Amsterdam, a match that secured the Netherlands' spot in the 2026 World Cup. Although he had a discreet performance and did not directly participate in the goals, the forward closed his "2025 cycle" with the national team with nine goals, the same amount he recorded for Corinthians in the season.

However, his offensive impact is greater at Timão. Considering direct goal involvements, Memphis accumulates 19 decisive actions with the alvinegra shirt, between goals and assists, compared to 13 for the national team. This difference is explained by the number of games: 45 matches for Corinthians, compared to only ten for the Netherlands throughout 2025.

In his penultimate commitment with the national team, the 1-1 draw with Poland, Memphis scored by completing a rebound from goalkeeper Grabara after a header by Malen, securing the Dutch draw.

Substituted at 18 minutes of the second half against Lithuania, the forward returns to Brazil in good condition to join the Corinthians squad. The club is finalizing preparations to face São Paulo this Thursday at 7:30 PM at Neo Química Arena, for the 34th round of the Brazilian Championship.
