Corinthians unbeaten v Ferroviária, repeat five-year-old feat

On the evening of last Thursday (13), Corinthians drew 0-0 with Ferroviária at Arena Fonte Luminosa, in a match valid for the 13th and penultimate round of the first phase of the Paulista Women’s Championship. The tie secured Alvinegro at the top of the state league with 32 points (10 wins, two draws, and one loss – 29 goals scored and six conceded).

In addition, the Brabas maintained a historic unbeaten streak against their Paulista rivals. In 19 matches between the teams at Fonte Luminosa, Corinthians have 14 wins and five draws and no defeats – 40 goals scored and nine conceded. Furthermore, it’s now 11 games without losing to Ferrinha – six wins for Alvinegro and five draws.

The only victory by Ferroviária over Corinthians in the history of the women’s football rivalry happened on August 24, 2022, at Fazendinha, in the Paulistão, with a score of 2-1. Throughout the history of the matchup, there have been 29 wins for Alvinegro, 10 draws, and only one defeat – 86 goals scored and 22 conceded.

Additionally, Corinthians have drawn their last two games of the season, both in the Paulista Championship and away from home, by 0-0. The Brabas had not gone two consecutive games without scoring since November 2020, when the club from Parque São Jorge drew 0-0 with Avaí Kindermann at Ressacada in the first leg of the Brasileirão final, and lost 2-0 to Santos in the first match of that year’s Paulista quarterfinals.

In the return leg against the Baixada Santista team, Corinthians overturned the score and won 5-2, advancing to the semifinals of the state championship. In the current season, Lucas Piccinato’s squad has already scored 115 goals in 48 games, covering the Supercopa, Copa do Brasil, Teal Rising Cup, Brasileirão, and Libertadores.

The Brabas will return to the field on the evening of this Sunday (16), at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), at Estádio Alfredo Schürig, Fazendinha, to face Realidade Jovem, for the 13th and final round of the first phase of the Paulista Women’s Championship.
