Corinthians without three for Ceará clash, Raniele doubtful

Corinthians was defeated by Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 on the night of this Wednesday (5th), at the Cícero de Souza Marques Stadium, in a match valid for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship. The Corinthians' goal was scored by forward Yuri Alberto, midway through the second half. The defeat kept the Alvinegro in tenth place with 42 points (11 wins, nine draws, and 12 losses – 35 goals scored and 37 conceded).

Besides the defeat, the club from Parque São Jorge, led by coach Dorival Júnior, will face problems for the next match on Sunday (9th), against Ceará, at the Neo Química Arena, for the 33rd round of the national tournament. This is because, still in the first half, at 24 minutes, midfielder Raniele left the field with groin pain and, in the second half, returned to the bench with ice on his thigh.

According to the Premiere broadcast, initially, the situation of the number 14 is not concerning. In any case, he should be reevaluated by the club's medical department in the coming hours. In the match, left-back Fabrizio Angileri came in his place. On the other hand, midfielders José Martínez and André Carrillo are certain absences for the weekend game.

José Martínez was cautioned near the 30-minute mark of the first half after committing a foul on midfielder Jhon Jhon. In the second half, the Venezuelan got involved in a scuffle with defender Gustavo Marques inside the area before an RB Bragantino corner kick and ended up being sent off by referee Edna Alves Batista at 14 minutes of the second half.

André Carrillo, who came off the bench, was already on a warning and received a third yellow card for complaining at 25 minutes of the second half. Finally, midfielder Charles, who was already on a warning for the match against Massa Bruta, received a yellow card after a scuffle with Jhon Jhon and Vanderlan from the opposing team at 50 minutes of the second half. Shortly after, Edna changed the decision and opted to expel the Corinthians player.

The number 35, in fact, might miss the next two Corinthians games, as he received a yellow before the red. The referee's report will clarify this situation, as it is still unknown if the yellow was annulled or not.

Thus, Corinthians is expected to have the following absences for the game against Ceará: midfielders José Martínez, André Carrillo, Charles, Vitinho (recovering from knee surgery). Raniele and André (in physical transition) are doubts. Midfielder Rodrigo Garrp, after the final whistle, was seen on the broadcast with ice on his knee and may also be out for Sunday. The number 8 was replaced by forward Gui Negão, already in the final stretch of the match.
