Corinthians Women defend four-year unbeaten run vs Santos Saturday

On the morning of this Saturday, 20, the Corinthians Women's team returns to the field, this time for the Paulista Championship. In a match valid for the ninth round, the Brabas host Santos at Parque São Jorge at 11 am (Brasília time), seeking to consolidate the unbeaten streak of 12 games since the return of competitions in August, which culminated in the conquest of the seventh Brazilian Championship and two qualifications in the Copa do Brasil.

The Brabas defend a long unbeaten run in the duel, as the last defeat to Santos occurred on May 2, 2021, in a match for the Brazilian Championship won by the rivals by 2 x 1. Since then, the Alvinegro Classic has occurred another ten times, recording nine victories for Corinthians and a draw, in addition to 19 goals in favor of the Corinthians and four against.

The confrontation between Corinthians and Santos is one of the most traditional in Brazilian football, having occurred 46 times since 1997 in various competitions: Paulista Championship, Regional Games, Copa do Brasil and Brazilian Championship. Between 1997 and 2009, Timão won five matches, drew four and lost seven of the 16 games played, scoring 25 goals and conceding 30. A performance, therefore, of 39.6% of the points.

In the 30 games played from 2016 onwards, the dominance is of the Brabas. There were a total of 17 Corinthians victories, seven draws and six defeats, with 54 goals in favor and 33 against and a performance of 64.4% of the points. In total, in 46 games, Corinthians won 22 victories, 11 draws and 13 defeats, scoring 79 goals in favor and 63 goals against and a performance of 55.8% of the points.

Considering only the home games, the invincibility of the People's Team is even greater, since the last setback in these conditions against Santos occurred on November 27, 2020, by 2 x 0, in the Paulista Championship. Since then, there have been five classics played with Corinthians' command: four victories of the Brabas and a draw, in addition to seven goals scored and only two goals conceded.
