According to Talksport, the Eagles are drawing up a shortlist of potential replacements for the Austrian, who has confirmed he will not be renewing his current contract.

The 51-year-old oversaw the club’s first ever FA Cup triumph last season, and will be targeting success in the Conference League this campaign.

However, speculation mounted on his immediate future at Selhurst Park following an outburst after the team’s 2-1 loss to Sunderland on Saturday in which he claimed the squad felt abandoned.

The London outfit are currently 13th in the Premier League table, but they are only seven points adrift of fifth, which could receive qualification for the Champions League.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish is believed to be a big supporter of Lampard, who is enjoying a lot of success at Coventry this season.

The Sky Blues are one of the favourites to secure automatic promotion to the Premier League, which has caught the attention of the Eagles.

While it is still expected that Glasner will oversee the end of the season, the club are still drawing up potential targets for when his contract expires in the summer, with Getafe’s Jose Bordalas and Rayo Vallecano’s Inigo Perez also being considered.

If issues behind the scenes continue, then perhaps the Premier League side may also find themselves in search of a new head coach sooner than initially hoped.

Lampard has been in charge at the CBS Arena since November 2024, and has earned a lot of plaudits since his arrival.

He led Coventry to a play-off place last season, but defeat to Sunderland consigned the club to another year in the second tier.

But the Sky Blues now lead the way at the top of the Championship table, six points clear of second place Middlesbrough after 27 games played.

Frank Lampard departure in the summer would be a blow for Coventry

Crystal Palace will be a tempting offer for Lampard, even if he does guide Coventry to promotion by this summer.

The Eagles are an established top flight side, and will have ambitions to qualify for European competition, and may even be competing on the continent again in 2026/27.

Meanwhile, Coventry’s focus will be on staying in the division, and there are no guarantees they will be able to manage that, so Lampard’s stock may never be higher than it is right now.

It would be a blow for the Sky Blues if he left, and owner Doug King may have to do everything he can to keep him over the coming months.
