Signed from Dinamo Zagreb for a reported fee of €14 million, Petar Sucic has quickly established himself as a starter at San Siro.

Indeed, the skilled midfielder was part of Chivu’s starting line-up in both Serie A matches before the international break.

Furthermore, he registered an assist in a 5-0 rout of Torino on the opening weekend.

However, his performance in a 2-1 defeat to Udinese was not as flashy.

Nonetheless, he got back on track during the international break, helping Croatia beat the Faroe Islands and Montenegro.

In doing so, he brought his country one step closer toward reaching its fourth consecutive FIFA World Cup finals.

“I feel really good, I’m really happy,” Sucic said. “I hope to keep helping the team win as much as possible.

“And anything is possible – that’s my mentality. Sometimes you play well, sometimes you don’t.

“However, the most important thing is to train properly and always give your best in every situation.

“It’s not about expecting it or not, I believe in myself, in my abilities, I try to give my best in matches and training.

“I want to improve day by day. Now I’m happy, but we have to focus on the next games.”

Then, he refused to single out a clubmate who surprised him the most.

“I can’t name just one Inter player who surprised me because that wouldn’t be nice.

“Every Nerazzurri player is incredible, full of quality. For me, every Inter player is top-level.”Furthermore, Sucic outlined his lofty ambitions for this season.

“Winning Serie A and trying to go far in the Champions League? Of course, we want to win, but we take it game by game.

“Only by winning each match can we reach where we want. And obviously, we want to win titles.”

Meanwhile, Sucic expects a dramatic clash against Juventus on Saturday.

“I expect a difficult, challenging match. They are a good, well-coached team.

“We have a few days to prepare, but we’ll do everything to win.”

Cristian Chivu has shown his trust in Sucic during the early season.

“My relationship with Chivu is good,” Sucic said. “I listen to his advice. “He’s an excellent coach.

“I pay attention, and we always try to improve and win game by game, as I said before. We want to win.”

As for his role, Sucic confirms he is comfortable covering multiple positions on the pitch.

“Perisic says I can play anywhere in midfield and even in defense? It’s nice when someone like Perisic supports those ideas.

“I don’t know where I can play best. I just know I want to give my all to help the team win matches.”

Asked whether ex-Inter star Marcelo Brozovic is his idol, Sucic replied: “In Croatia, everyone has Modric as an idol and wants to play like him, but that’s impossible.

“So my idols are Luka, Brozovic, Kovacic, Rakitic… I grew up watching them.”

Sucic then admitted he talked withLuka Modric about the Derby della Madonnina.

“I talked about it with Modric with pleasure, but that’s something that stays between us.”

Finally, he revealed he has a decent understanding of the Italian language.

“I’m learning it well, I practically understand everything in training and meetings.

“And for what I don’t understand, my teammates, staff, and coach help me, but I’m learning, it’s going well.

“Which words do I know the most now? Those related to football, but I couldn’t tell you exactly which ones.”
