Daniel Bauer has praised Mohamed Amoura’s response to his club suspension and highlighted a strong week of training before Borussia Dortmund’s visit.

According to BuLi News, the Algerian was omitted in Köln for disciplinary reasons last weekend and is set to rejoin Wolfsburg’s squad for the home game.

Bauer said Amoura had trained well before, but this was probably his best week since he became head coach.

Amoura is Wolfsburg’s top Bundesliga scorer this season with seven goals. The 25-year-old was also the only Wolfsburg player to reach double figures last term. He scored his first goal since returning from AFCON in the 3-1 defeat at Mainz on matchday 19.

The coach added that if Amoura maintains those levels, he could give Wolfsburg plenty of joy this weekend, noting a brief hug on Monday convinced him the striker has the fire and drive to turn things around.
