Borussia Dortmund are facing internal regret over Julian Brandt’s departure, with Leeds United exploring a move for the 30-year-old free agent.
Sky Deutschland’s Auffe Sud podcast reports that some club officials now see letting the Germany international walk away as a blunder. He became a free agent at the end of last month after failing to agree an extension.
Dortmund had confirmed in March that Brandt would leave when his deal expired, and they are still searching the market for a creative replacement. A return to Dortmund is completely out of the question, with both parties having moved on.
Leeds are assessing an ambitious swoop for the playmaker. There have been no concrete talks, but Daniel Farke is keen to add Brandt’s creativity for the upcoming Premier League season.
Leeds face competition. Brandt’s representatives were seen at Real Betis headquarters in Spain and the player has been offered to the La Liga club, though they are not considering a move as things stand.
Interest around Brandt is growing, and landing him would be a statement of intent for 49ers Enterprises.
