As the winter transfer window approaches, Paulo Dybala’s future is once again in the spotlight.
According to La Repubblica, a meeting is scheduled for the coming days between Roma management and the Argentine striker’s agent, Carlos Novel, to discuss the path forward and the terms of a mutually satisfactory agreement.
At the same time, rumors of an early departure have intensified, with Boca Juniors indicated as a preferred destination, ready to welcome him as early as January.
In Buenos Aires, his friend and former teammate Leandro Paredes is benefiting, having repeatedly expressed his desire to share the footballing experience with Dybala again.
At present, there does not appear to be any reason for an imminent departure.
Dybala is happy in Rome, where he has chosen to build his personal life and raise his daughter, who is expected in March.
This emotional bond with the capital, however, does not appear to be sufficient to secure his professional future. The sticking point remains his contract renewal, which is currently on hold.
Any negotiations will have to comply with the guidelines set by the Friedkins, which are geared toward investing in players under 30 and reducing the burden of higher salaries.
Dybala is the exception: “La Joya” commands approximately €8.5 million net per season. The Argentine’s contract expires on June 30, 2026, and will not be renewed under the same financial conditions.
For Roma, this is a strategic decision, balancing financial sustainability with the need to retain one of the squad’s key players. The upcoming meeting could mark a crucial step in outlining future scenarios.
