Real Madrid have made many superstar signings over the years, and while some have gone on to live up to the billing as bona fide game changers, others have simply sunk.
One of the names who falls into the second category comfortably is Eden Hazard who arrived in the Spanish capital hoping to conquer world football but disappeared into oblivion.
A combination of fitness constraints, a lack of form and discipline cost the player dearly, and his move to Real Madrid ended up being the first step towards the unfortunate end of his career.
The former Real Madrid player opened up to the media in a revenge interview where he was asked if the best team he played for was Chelsea, where he was at his prime, or Real Madrid where he struggled. From his side, the answer was clear.
“Is Chelsea the best club I’ve played for? No, Madrid is better.”
“My time at Chelsea was unbelievable but Madrid, the club, is the best. Number 1,” he added.

He was then asked if he could ever have contemplated signing for Barcelona during his playing career, to which he said,
“Would I have signed for Barcelona? No. My dream was Real Madrid since I was young.”
“When I started playing football, I always told my dad I wanted to play for Madrid,” he added.
Finally, Hazard revealed how he did have some affection for Barcelona but how Real Madrid always trumped it.
“Of course, Barça with the way they play, Messi – but, Hala Madrid my friend.”
