Eduardo, who worked under Luis Castro at Botafogo, will be available on a free in the next window as Cruzeiro will not renew his contract. According to Gremistas.net, the 36-year-old has been told he will not remain for the coming season.

Clubs in Brazil’s Série A have begun planning for the 2026 campaign. Castro has taken over at Grêmio, and Eduardo is among the names set to hit the market.

His best spell since returning to Brazil came under Castro at Botafogo. He arrived in July 2022 and remained under the Portuguese coach until mid 2023.

He stayed at Botafogo through to the end of 2024. Under Artur Jorge, he was part of the side that won the Copa Libertadores and the Campeonato Brasileiro.

In 2025 with Cruzeiro, Eduardo played 51 times, starting 22, across 2,004 minutes. He registered six goal contributions and finished as the club’s second-top scorer in the Copa do Brasil.
