Kyreece Lisbie looks destined for a move away from Colchester United after a debut campaign to remember in League Two, and Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has hinted at perhaps where.

The 22-year-old netted 11 and assisted a further eight in all competitions this past season at the JobServe Community Stadium in his first full EFL campaign after signing from Brentford midway through the 2024/25 term.

Lisbie's efforts over the past year at Colchester have piqued the interest of some top League One outfits, with FLW exclusively reporting on Tuesday that both Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town were looking to bring him in this summer.

He wasn't the only Lisbie brother to have a breakout year in the EFL this past season, though. Indeed, twin brother Kyrell shone at Peterborough in League One, scoring 14 times and assisting seven in all competitions.

With talks over a potential move to the third tier for Kyreece, some Posh fans were hoping that the family connections could result in both Lisbie twins occupying the wide roles at London Road next season.

Unfortunately for those Peterborough fans who were hoping for a couple of Lisbies in their squad next season, vocal chairman Darragh MacAnthony denied that his club will be winning the race for the 22-year-old this summer.

In response to one Posh fan on X asking if "Lisbie 2" was next in the door at London Road this summer, he replied, "No chance. Too expensive. Wages wise been offered by massive clubs for our cap, and now bigger clubs in. That's football. Move on and next!"

Massive clubs with big wages for the level would indirectly confirm FLW's reports that Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday would be registering interest, as they're expected to be amongst the top spending sides in the division this summer.

However, MacAnthony has ruled out the latter, which could give the Terriers' chances of landing him a big boost.

One Wednesday fan asked, "Is he coming Wednesday, Darragh?" to which the Peterborough owner bluntly responded, "No, buddy."

With the Owls seemingly out of the picture, albeit that claim being made by a rival owner, it could seem that a route to West Yorkshire has opened up a little wider for Lisbie, as the 22-year-old enters the final year of his contract.

FLW indicated that Oxford United are also in the hunt for the Colchester winger, so it won't be straightforward for Town, but they'll see their chances of landing him boosted with Wednesday not set to battle hard alongside them for their target.

Huddersfield fans were quick to flock to the replies on Darragh MacAnthony's tweet, which effectively ruled Sheffield Wednesday out of the Lisbie race, to ask what it may mean for their chances of landing the winger.

"Town?" one fan asked. "Hudds?" asked another, both with eye emojis which indicate intrigue. Neither has been replied to by MacAnthony, which could imply some truth to the rumour.

The Wednesday fan who asked the question to the Posh owner posted their conversation thread online, too, which prompted some Town fans to speculate that the admission could lead Lisbie to the Accu Stadium instead.

"Please be Huddersfield Town," one fan wrote. "Coming to town," said another, with a fingers-crossed emoji.

Evidently, Terriers fans are open to the idea of adding the 22-year-old to their ranks this summer. FLW's Huddersfield fan pundit outlined that, too, when asked how he felt about the prospect of Lisbie joining the club.

He stated that he could follow in the footsteps of Sorba Thomas, another winger who arrived in West Yorkshire from the lower leagues to make an impact out wide.
