Eintracht Frankfurt

Frankfurt made a positive start to the 2025/26 campaign, winning five of their opening seven matches across all competitions. However, they have since experienced a drop-off in form, having seen their last four matches produce one draw and three defeats.

Their only draw in that period took place in last Saturday’s away league clash against Freiburg. Jonathan Burkardt netted a first-half brace to give die Adler a 2-1 lead, only for Vincenzo Grifo to net an 87th-minute equaliser to deny Frankfurt a precious victory. Dino Toppmöller’s charges gave up another lead in Wednesday’s heavy Champions League defeat against Premier League champions Liverpool.

Rasmus Kristensen’s opener proved to be fruitless as Liverpool produced a free-scoring display to condemn Frankfurt to back-to-back 5-1 defeats in the Champions League. Die Adler are at least still in the top 24 of the league phase after pulling off their own 5-1 win over Galatasaray on matchday one.

Having conceded 23 goals in their last six competitive outings, Frankfurt will be desperate to produce an improved defensive display in Saturday’s Bundesliga clash with St.Pauli. Die Adler have avoided defeat in each of their last three head-to-head matches (W2, D1), although they were only able to pick up a 2-2 draw in May’s home clash with Alexander Blessin’s side.

Team News

Frankfurt remain without the injured Elias Baum. Meanwhile, Oscar Højlund will miss a second successive game after picking up a thigh problem.

Predicted lineup: Zetterer; Kristensen, Koch, Theate, Brown; Larsson, Chaïbi; Dōan, Uzun, Bahoya; Burkardt

Eintracht Frankfurt

While Frankfurt are in seventh spot, St. Pauli will head into the weekend in 14th position after collecting seven points from as many matches. They have lost four consecutive matches since winning two and drawing one of their opening three league games. St. Pauli failed to trouble the scorers in three of those four defeats, including a blank in last Sunday’s heavy 3-0 home loss against Hoffenheim.

St. Pauli will be hoping to get their campaign back on track by claiming their first victory over Frankfurt since recording a 2-0 home win in the 2.Bundesliga in December 2011. Meanwhile, you have to go back to April 1996 for the last time that St. Pauli managed to get the better of Frankfurt in the top flight.

Blessin will be challenging his team to start fast and grab the first goal, having seen his charges concede the opener in six of their seven league matches this term. However, that will be easier said than done for a team that have mustered just two goals in their three away games of the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign.

Team News

The visitors are unable to call upon Ricky-Jade Jones and David Nemeth, while a late decision will be made on James Sands’s availability.

Predicted lineup: Vasilj; Wahl, Smith, Mets; Saliakas, Metcalfe, Fujita, Sinani, Oppie; Kaars, Pereira Lage
