The squads for the European Under-21 Championship have been confirmed, Bahoya enjoyed a perfect debut and Koch came off second best with Germany in the Nations League.
As the German Football Association (DFB) announced on Thursday morning, four Eintracht players – Ansgar Knauff, Nnamdi Collins, Nathaniel Brown and Elias Baum – will be part of the group who’ll be travelling to Slovakia on Thursday and aiming to reach the final in Bratislava on 28 June.
Bahoya steps up
Denmark with Oscar Højlund and France with Jean-Mattéo Bahoya had already selected their maximum of 23 players for the tournament. Hugo Ekitiké, who was originally named in the French squad, was forced to withdraw because of back problems.
Talking of France, Bahoya made his debut for the U21 side on Wednesday and opened the scoring from the penalty spot in a 2-1 friendly win against the Uzbekistan U23s. The Eintracht winger’s work was done after 62 minutes.
Koch starts, Ronaldo has last word
Robin Koch played the full 90 minutes for the German senior team for the fourth time in his career as Julian Nagelsmann’s men slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Portugal in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals, with Cristiano Ronaldo netting the winner in Munich.
Germany now meet the losers of the second semi-final between France and Spain on Thursday night in the third-place match, which will take place on Sunday at 15:00 CEST in Stuttgart.
The next Eagle in international action is Farès Chaibi, who comes up against Rwanda with Algeria.
