The Japanese defender will join the Eagles from Djurgardens IF on 1 January 2026.
Keita Kosugi moved from boyhood club Shonan Bellmare to Swedish top-flight outfit Djurgardens IF in March 2024 and soon became a first-team regular, playing from start to finish in almost every competitive fixture since his arrival. The 19-year-old has made 62 appearances for the club across the Swedish Allsvenskan, the Swedish cup and the UEFA Conference League, registering five goals and seven assists. Kosugi played a major role in Djurgarden reaching the Conference League semi-finals in 2024/25, where they were knocked out by eventual winners Chelsea FC.
The 1.72-metre left-back has already gained international experience in Japan’s youth teams, and in 2023 he captained the side at the U17 World Cup as well as to glory at the U17 Asian Cup. He made his debut for his country’s U23s in September.
Sporting director Timmo Hardung: “In Keita Kosugi, we’re signing a young left-back who not only has good technical ability on the ball but also covers a lot of ground and has a high work rate. He’s already demonstrated his qualities as a regular starter in the Swedish league and in European competition, and he has great potential for development.”
