Elche condemn racism and urge prudence and respect for Rafa Mir | OneFootball

Elche have condemned racism and called for prudence and respect towards Rafa Mir while the situation is clarified, citing a lack of evidence. The club said in a statement that it rejects any racist, intolerant or disrespectful behaviour.

The statement arrived nearly five hours after the match against Espanyol and addressed an incident involving Mir and Omar El Hilali.

In minute 78, the referee activated the anti-racism protocol following a request from El Hilali.

After the game, the referee’s report recorded that Mir allegedly told the Espanyol player, “Viniste en patera”.

Elche added that it will await developments before taking any action and will cooperate responsibly in line with established procedures, stressing respect for the values of sport.
