It is gearing up to be another busy few weeks for Celtic FC Women with three games against three fellow Glasgow teams in both league and cup competition coming up in the next few weeks.
First up is a Sky Sports Cup quarter-final on Sunday against Queen’s Park, and with league games against Rangers and Partick Thistle to come, Celtic Head Coach Elena Sadiku spoke to Celtic TV, reflecting first on the 3-0 win last week against Hamilton Accies.
She said: “We were very pleased with how we played. Obviously we only had one training session before we played our last game, but I really liked the way how we played.
"After the game, I maybe said we weren’t as pleased with the amount of goals that we scored, but I think that is a case of just making sure that we are more clinical. We have the players who have the quality to do that.
'So it’s something that we are going to work on and hopefully, another good outcome against Queen’s Park this Sunday.'
“The main thing was that the effort was there and the players really showed it against Hamilton. Some days, the ball just falls for you and some days it doesn’t.
“We just need to make sure that we keep building on it and keep working on it because there wasn’t nothing wrong with how we created the chances.
“It was just the final execution and that is something that I am very confident in, that we're going to make sure that we are going to execute it better for the next game.”
As the Hoops take a break from league action, the Sky Sports Cup quarter-final is on the horizon this Sunday. And although Queen’s Park play their football in the division below, that's not something the Ghirls are thinking about.
“The cup competitions will be very important,” Elena Sadiku said. “We have been talking about it, and we have full focus on the domestic games this season.
“We want to play the big games – quarter-finals, semi-finals, finals. We want to win trophies, so this is just a great opportunity for us to showcase again, what we want to do this season.
“Being more consistent, making sure that we are all working towards something together, so that we can make the journey very special.
'That starts now against Queen’s Park and making sure that we end up in the semi-finals. So we are very excited.'
“We are very, very eager to make every session the best possible and like I said to the players, Queen’s Park are a team a division below us, but it is no excuse for us to not be the best we can be.
“We need to make sure we're always the best that we can be every single day because in the end that is going to develop the individual and the collective.
“So that was the aim with all of our sessions this week, and whatever we're doing that is always going to be the aim.”
It is set to be a big weekend for the Hoops as Elena Sadiku's side fight it out for a place in the semi-final of the Sky Sports Cup.
The Ghirls welcome Queen's Park to New Douglas Park in quarter-final action as they aim to book a last-four spot.
