Lega Serie A will hold an emergency meeting today as the Stadio Dall’Ara is unavailable for Bologna-Milan, and last-minute issues have thrown the Como option in doubt, urging Serie A chiefs to contact Empoli authorities.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Lega Serie A officials will hold an emergency meeting today to discuss the venue of Bologna-Milan, which is due to be played on Saturday at 18:00 CET (16:00 GMT).

Bologna Mayor Matteo Lepore announced on Thursday that the game would not be played at the Stadio Dall’Ara due to extreme flooding that hit the region in recent days.

A morning meeting between Lepore and Bologna Prefect Attilio Visconti confirmed that the fixture couldn’t be played at the Stadio Dall’Ara, even behind closed doors.

Lega Serie A already has an agreement with Como authorities to move the fixture to the Stadio Sinigaglia, but Gazzetta claims that last-minute issues have also put this option in serious doubt.

Therefore, Lega Serie A has contacted Empoli authorities to play the game at the Stadio Castellani, but more updates will come later today.

Lega Serie A is pushing to play the game as it would be tricky to reschedule the fixture due to a packed schedule that sees both clubs involved in the Champions League and Coppa Italia.

Milan coach Paulo Fonseca won’t hold a pre-match press conference today.

Milan President Paolo Scaroni provided a brief update after an ordinary Serie A meeting this morning, suggesting that “frankly” the Rossoneri prefer playing.

“I didn’t follow the issue closely, but I think it will be played behind closed doors or elsewhere. After last evening’s decision, we are trying to find the best solution.”

The only certainty is that if the game goes ahead as Lega Serie A wishes, it will be played behind closed doors.
