In a positive development, Mundo Deportivo reports that FC Barcelona have completed the necessary preparations to ensure the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys is ready to host the team’s next two home fixtures of the season.

Over the past two seasons, Estadi Olimpic in Montjuic has been the home of the Blaugrana first team while renovation work continues at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The Catalans are still working to obtain the permits required to reopen the Spotify Camp Nou in the near future. While the hope was to get it ready for Sunday’s game vs Real Sociedad, the City Council denied the required licences.

As such, it was announced that Barcelona will host Real Sociedad at the Montjuic Stadium, where they will be playing PSG in the UEFA Champions League three days later on 1 October.

Montjuic Stadium ready

Now, Barcelona have made all the necessary preparations needed to host the La Liga match against Real Sociedad and the =Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

To adapt the stadium to its functions and meet competition requirements, the club has carried out several improvements. These include the installation of the pitch, the replacement of around 7,000 seats in updated sections, repositioning of access turnstiles, among others.

The Blaugrana also helped carry out the installation of competition systems, including VAR cameras, while also overseeing the placement of benches and the transfer of furniture into dressing rooms refurbished two seasons ago.

So, everything appears to be in place for Barcelona to host Real Sociedad and PSG at the Montjuic Stadium on 28 September and 1 October, respectively.

As for the Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona are addressing the new amendments suggested this week by the City Council. The hope is that the permits are obtained in time for the next home game, which is against Girona on 18 October.
