Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United ‘enter race’ as Sunderland eye £34m Muharemović | OneFootball

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leeds United have entered the race to sign Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović, with Sunderland and Bournemouth making contact in recent weeks.

There is no suggestion Sunderland have tabled a formal offer, but the Black Cats are exploring a move for the 23-year-old.

Italian transfer reporter Nicolò Schira claims four Premier League clubs are interested, naming Sunderland, Leeds, Newcastle United and Bournemouth.

Schira adds that Sassuolo value Muharemović at about €40 million, roughly £34.1 million, and that Sunderland are preparing to open talks over a €35-40 million deal. He also reports a contract proposal to 2031 worth €3.5 million per year plus bonuses, around £3 million annually, or approximately £57,000 per week. These remain reported figures rather than confirmed terms.

Any move is complicated by Juventus, who retained a 50 per cent sell-on clause when Muharemović joined Sassuolo permanently. That would entitle them to half of any fee and leaves them well placed should they try to bring him back to Turin.

Muharemović made 32 appearances for Sassuolo last season, including 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed centre-back is contracted until 2031 and is a Bosnia and Herzegovina senior international.
