Fabrizio Romano: Leeds United ‘enter race’ for £34m Muharemović as Sunderland make contact | OneFootball

Fabrizio Romano reports Leeds United have entered the chase for Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović, with Sunderland and Bournemouth making contact in recent weeks.

Sunderland want another centre-back under Régis Le Bris this summer and have been linked with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international. Romano’s update does not indicate a formal Sunderland bid at this stage.

Italian reporter Nicolò Schira claims four Premier League clubs are now interested, naming Sunderland, Leeds, Newcastle United and Bournemouth.

Schira adds that Sassuolo value Muharemović at around €40 million, roughly £34.1 million, and that Sunderland are preparing to open talks over a €35-40 million package, about £29.8-34.1 million.

He also reports Sunderland have offered a deal to 2031 worth €3.5 million per year plus bonuses, around £3 million annually, approximately £57,000 per week. Those figures are reported rather than confirmed.

Any move is complicated by Juventus retaining a 50 per cent sell-on clause from his switch to Sassuolo, which would entitle them to half of any fee and could aid a potential return to Turin.

Muharemović made 32 appearances for Sassuolo last season, including 31 in Serie A, scoring twice. The left-footed defender is under contract until 2031 and is a Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
