Felipe Anderson felt knee discomfort in Tuesday’s training and will not travel to Minas Gerais, so he will miss Palmeiras’ Brasileirão opener. According to Globo.com, scans showed no injury, but he has been left out as a precaution.

Palmeiras visit Atlético-MG at 19:00 on Wednesday at Arena MRV.

Felipe Anderson had only just returned from an ankle problem, starting the season in physical transition after a left ankle sprain sustained last year. He now joins Paulinho, who remains in physiotherapy, and Lucas Evangelista and Figueiredo, both still in physical transition. On Tuesday the latter pair continued their transition work.

At the club’s training base, the squad completed activation in the excellence centre, then moved outside to refine build-up patterns, marking and specific movements. The staff then ran small-sided technical drills.

Abel Ferreira is expected to field a side similar to the one that beat São Paulo at the weekend, with only a question over whether Vitor Roque starts after beginning on the bench. A likely XI is Carlos Miguel, Khellven, Gómez, Fuchs, Piquerez, Marlon Freitas, Andreas Pereira, Maurício, Allan, Vitor Roque (Sosa), and Flaco López.
