Filipe Luís open to using Bruno Henrique on left if Flamengo require | OneFootball

Filipe Luís has not ruled out using Bruno Henrique on the left wing, although the captain has largely been deployed through the middle as a false nine.

According to Coluna Do Fla, after Flamengo secured a place in the Campeonato Carioca semi-finals, the coach praised Henrique’s versatility and leadership, and said he is currently opting for Cebolinha and trying to recover Samuel Lino.

He also pointed to the Libertadores final, when neither Pedro nor Plata featured and Henrique led the line, stressing the forward’s knack for attacking space and following instructions.

Flamengo have only one orthodox centre-forward in the senior squad, Pedro, who missed long spells last season through injury, reducing options. Filipe Luís had Juninho available and used him at times, but mainly stationed Henrique centrally as a false nine. In early 2026 the club sold Juninho to Pumas (MEX), again limiting the position.

On the left, Samuel Lino and Cebolinha are competing for minutes, and Henrique has rarely operated out wide. The club remain in the market for a centre-forward, with no reinforcement announced so far.

Even so, a switch back to the left for the number 27, a role he filled for more than five seasons with the Rubro-Negro, remains an option if the team require it.
