Arne Slot has indicated that Jarell Quansah may be a doubt for Sunday’s meeting with Brentford, with the defender picking up a knock in midweek following Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Ipswich Town.

Slot, who opted to substitute Quansah in last weekend’s encounter at Portman Road, referenced the injury and the defender’s frustration at being substituted.

The Dutch manager declared that Quansah reacted “in a way you would expect a player to react. I spoke to him immediately after the game, I spoke to him the day after on Sunday and at the end of that conversation he asked if he could train on the Sunday. Normally he should have done recovery, [but] he wanted to train.”

Gary Neville has heaped praise on 21 year-old Harvey Elliott likening him to Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.

It's hard to believe that a player would benefit from the departure of the legendary Jurgen Klopp but Harvey Elliott may be of the minority.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville discussed on Sky Sports how the midfielder could relish in the 'number ten' role in Arne Slot's system, rather than being a wide player which we saw Elliott often occupy under Klopp.

A former Everton chief executive has spoken about regarding the future of Jarrad Branthwaite, claiming that talk of a potential move is merely ‘mischief’.

Keith Wyness, who was employed by Everton for five years during the 2000s, told the Liverpool Echo that “I’m hearing a load of whispers about [Jarrad] Branthwaite joining Liverpool during the week, which I think is more mischief from fans than anything else.”

However, Wyness did concede that fellow Evertonians would be “biting our nails about outgoings and incomings,” particularly in a current period of transfer uncertainty for the toffees.

Arne Slot provided an update on the future of Joe Gomez in his press conference this morning, admitting that ‘everything can change’ amidst rumours of a departure away from Anfield for the 27-year-old.

Speaking to the media ahead of his second Premier League fixture in charge of the Reds, Slot spoke on a potential return to the team for Gomez when Liverpool face Brentford on Sunday.

“He's worked really hard since he came back, but he didn't play a lot at the Euros," noted Slot. “When he came back in the first sessions he couldn't train the whole sessions, so we had to manage his load a bit. That was also the reason why he wasn't in the team last Saturday."
