Flamengo grant rest after first win as Lucas Paquetá hits 100 games | OneFootball

Flamengo’s first league win of 2026 brought a midweek breather, with Lucas Paquetá also reaching a century of appearances. According to Coluna Do Fla, the squad were given Wednesday off and head coach Filipe Luís detailed the midfielder’s role.

Flamengo beat Vitória 2-1 at Barradão on Tuesday (10) in the third round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. After the match, the team flew back to Rio at around 02h30 on Wednesday (11), Brasília time.

The players were off on Wednesday. Training resumes on Thursday (12) at CT Ninho do Urubu from 15h30, Brasília time.

Recently back in Brazil, Paquetá started and reached 100 appearances for the club. He joined from West Ham at the end of last month for a record fee in Brazilian football. He debuted in 2016, moved to Milan in 2018 and returned in 2026.

Filipe Luís said Paquetá is a midfielder rather than a winger, though he works defensively in wide areas, similar to his role at West Ham. With Emerson Royal on that flank and two holding midfielders usually side by side, he explained the team needed a midfielder there, so Paquetá filled that role.
