Flamengo have secured a stay on Carrascal's four-match ban for his Supercopa do Brasil red card against Corinthians, allowing him to play against Bragantino on Thursday at 21:30 in Bragança Paulista and in the coming rounds.
Globo.com reports that the midfielder now awaits the appeal hearing. If he is punished, he will have to serve the suspension in competitions run by the CBF.
The club argued the case was time-barred. The sending off stemmed from the final on the first of February, and they cited article 254-A, which carries a 30-day prescription. The complaint was filed on 11 February, and the case was only admitted for judgment on 30 March, so the limit would have been the first of March.
The panel at the STJD rejected that thesis on Thursday. Auditor Luiz Gabriel Batista Neves said recognising prescription would imply an alteration or even a crime by a tribunal employee, adding that at most it could be a system error.
Carrascal was with Colombia during the Fifa window and was the first of those called up to return. They lost 3-1 to France on Sunday in Washington, United States. He missed Monday's session at the training ground, then took part on Tuesday.
He came on after 17 minutes of the second half for James Rodríguez in the defeat to Croatia last Thursday. His display was questioned and he did not take the chance. In the second match, he remained on the bench.
