Flamengo ‘to pay’ four salaries to José Boto if dismissed | OneFootball

Flamengo will have to pay José Boto four salaries if they choose to dismiss him, according to ESPN. The Portuguese executive’s position is unclear after the sacking of head coach Filipe Luís.

President Luiz Eduardo Baptista has already assessed alternatives for the role, including Fábio Luciano and Edu Gaspar.

Boto’s standing has been strained since last year, with friction during Arrascaeta’s renewal, issues involving De La Cruz and, most recently, the manner of Filipe Luís’s dismissal. Those disputes have distanced him from the squad.

As with Filipe Luís, whose dismissal only followed agreement with Leonardo Jardim, the club will only dismiss Boto after settling on a successor. Bap has yet to decide whether the next structure will involve one or two professionals, aiming to blend a ‘boleirão’ profile with a more executive line.

In the meantime, Flamengo turn to their next assignment. On Sunday, they face Fluminense at 18:00, Brasília time, at the Maracanã in the Campeonato Carioca final.
