Wolves are set to sign former England defender Kieran Trippier after his Newcastle United release, with a verbal two-year agreement in place, according to ExpressAndStar.com.
With recruitment under way for a push back to the Premier League, here are four out-of-contract options they could also consider.
Dennis Cirkin, Sunderland, was linked with Wolves last summer after starring in the Championship play-off final win. Injuries then saw the left-back lose his place as Sunderland qualified for Europe. He is out of contract and offers significant second-tier experience.
Axel Tuanzebe, Burnley, started 14 Premier League games last season after a one-year move from Ipswich Town. He helped the Tractor Boys win promotion in 2024/25, then made 22 appearances the following campaign. If no new deal arrives at Turf Moor, he could be available.
Solly March’s Brighton exit was confirmed last week after more than 300 appearances across 14 seasons. At 31, the wide man has Premier League suitors despite recent injuries. His top-flight nous could also translate to Championship impact.
Josh Laurent, Burnley, is out of contract. The versatile 31-year-old was influential in Burnley’s promotion two seasons ago and featured heavily in the Premier League. He is likely to attract interest this summer.
