Mohamed Salah crowned his return to Liverpool action with immediate impact providing assist after coming off the bench during Saturday’s 2-0 Premier League victory over Brighton at Anfield.

The Egyptian star entered the match in the 26 minute as first half substitute for the injured Joe Gomez and was warmly received by the home crowd who applauded and chanted his name.

Salah Responds after recent benchings

Salah’s appearance came after turbulent week that saw him:

  • Left out of the 1-0 Champions League win over Inter Milan
  • Benched again in the dramatic 3-3 league draw with Leeds United

Against Brighton, Arne Slot initially named Salah among the substitutes but injury forced early tactical change.

The winger’s introduction immediately shifted the momentum and silenced doubts surrounding his status.

Historic Premier League milestone achieved

With his assist Salah surpassed Wayne Rooney’s long standing record for goal contributions with single Premier League club.

  1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool): 277 goal contributions
  2. Wayne Rooney (Manchester United): 276

The assist also lifted Salah to 280 total Premier League goal contribution making him the third highest contributor in league history, overtaking Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.

remain ahead of the Liverpool forward in the all time standings.
