FC Bayern dominated Atalanta Bergamo for 90 minutes in the Champions League round of 16 first leg to claim a 6-1 victory, although they may have three new injuries after the final whistle
FC Bayern were already 3-0 up after less than half an hour through Josip Stanisic, Michael Olise and Serge Gnabry, and could even have scored one or two more goals at half-time
However, these followed in the second half. Shortly after the restart, Nicolas Jackson increased the lead to 4:0. This was followed by goals from the outstanding Olise and Jamal Musiala. Atalanta also managed a consolation goal: Mario Pašalić scored shortly before the end to make it 1:6
The only downer was that Alphonso Davies, Jamal Musiala and Jonas Urbig all had to be substituted with injuries
FC Bayern had the first dangerous chance early on. After Josip Stanisic pushed forward, he laid the ball back to Michael Olise, who fired towards the bottom right corner, but Atalanta keeper Marco Carnesecchi made a save. Shortly afterwards, Olise broke through in the penalty area and found Joshua Kimmich in the center, whose shot was also blocked
Olise played a corner quickly and flatly into the box to Serge Gnabry, who passed to Josip Stanisic in the five-yard box, from where the Munich right-back slotted home unhindered by the stunned Atalanta defence to give Bayern the lead

Bayern followed up just ten minutes later, with Dayot Upamecano playing a counter-attack on the right wing to Olise, who cut inside like Arjen Robben and curled the ball into the bottom left corner
And the Olise show continued: After a long shot from Jonas Urbig, the Frenchman played Gnabry through and he slotted home in front of Carnesecchi in the 25th minute to make it 3-0. It was an absolutely world-class start to this Champions League round of 16 match for FC Bayern, which Serge Gnabry almost decided early with a shot to the left of the crossbar just before the break
Munich kept their foot on the gas pedal at the start of the second half, which opened with a long-range shot from Aleksandar Pavlović, and the next Bayern goal came in the 51st minute: substitute Alphonso Davies drove the ball forward and crossed to Luis Díaz, who laid it off to Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese then converted the pass flat into the bottom left-hand corner, scoring for the second game in a row
But that was not all: in the 64th minute, Olise once again moved inside from the right wing in Robben style, but this time he fired into the top left corner to make it 5-0. Jamal Musiala, who had come on for Serge Gnabry at the break, also scored. In the 67th minute, he pushed a feed from Nicolas Jackson over the line from close range with the outside of his foot

However, there was one major downside to FC Bayern’s gala performance: Davies had to be substituted in the 70th minute with an injury. The Canadian left the pitch in tears. It is still unclear exactly how bad it is, but given his emotional reaction, you have to expect the worst
Munich then let the game run out and allowed Atalanta to score a consolation goal shortly before the end of stoppage time. Mario Pašalić pushed the ball over the line from close range. Jonas Urbig was injured in the run-up to the action and also had to be escorted off the pitch. Alongside Davies, Musiala was also substituted with an injury
Nevertheless, the result was a well-deserved 6:1 victory for FC Bayern – and all without Harry Kane!
