Roma’s transfer market is preparing to enter its hottest phase, with the management busy defining strategies and priorities for incomings, outgoings, and contract renewals.

This morning, Gian Piero Gasperini and sporting director Tony D’Amico met in Trigoria to review the situation and map out the club’s next moves.

Among the potential signings is Arne Engels, a young midfielder currently owned by Celtic.

Beyond the usual name of Mason Greenwood, considered a primary target to strengthen the attacking line, the transfer planning isn’t limited to attack, with the club also looking to address other areas based on potential departures and the tactical needs of the new season.

In midfield, one of the profiles being monitored is the 2003-born Belgian, a young Celtic midfielder whom Gasperini has known and admired since his time at Atalanta.

The Belgian is considered an interesting player due to his technical ability and potential for growth, as well as his ability to make an impact in attack.

Competition, however, is fierce and international. According to TeamTalk, several clubs are interested in the midfielder, including AC Milan, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund, and Leipzig, but Crystal Palace currently appears to be ahead.

The English club is reportedly ready to submit an initial offer to Celtic, who already repelled Nottingham Forest’s bid in January.

The player’s valuation is around £25 million, a figure that reflects a stellar season, culminating in the Scottish title, with seven goals and eight assists in 46 appearances. Engels has also distinguished himself as a set-piece specialist and has gained experience in European competitions, even facing Roma in the Europa League.
