Gattuso ‘to prioritise’ Marco Brescianini as Lazio target attacking midfielder | OneFootball

Il Messaggero reports that Gennaro Gattuso favours Fiorentina’s Marco Brescianini as Lazio step up their hunt for an attacking midfielder.

Gattuso has moved away from Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 towards a 4-2-3-1. Lazio agreed personal terms with Jonathan Asp Jensen, but failed to strike a deal with Bayern Munich, and the 20-year-old joined Deportivo La Coruña.

He had admired Dinamo Zagreb’s Luka Stojkovic, though the 22-year-old’s price is considered beyond reach. Lazio have tracked Brescianini alongside Giovanni Fabbian, with both midfielders struggling to make an impact since arriving in Florence in January and now deemed surplus to requirements under Fabio Grosso.

Brescianini, 26, is a versatile presence in midfield, praised for his work-rate and ability to chip in with goals. He has 10 goals and five assists from 92 Serie A appearances.

The Calcinate-born AC Milan academy graduate broke through at Frosinone in 2023/24, earning a €10 million move to Atalanta in summer 2024. Short of minutes in Bergamo, he switched to Fiorentina in January 2026.
