Gaviões Old Guard leads caravan after Arena da Baixada ban

Corinthians faces Athletico this Thursday (19), at 7:30 PM (Brasília time), at Arena da Baixada, for the second round of the Brazilian Championship. The match will have attendance restricted to women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities, due to a punishment imposed on the Paraná club after incidents in the derby against Coritiba in 2025.

In light of these restrictions, Gaviões da Fiel organized a special caravan to Curitiba, which will be represented by the entity’s Old Guard. Historic members, who have spent decades in the stands, on the road, and dedicated to Corinthians, were chosen to lead the trip. Among them are Ernesto Teixeira, the samba voice of the fans, and the association’s former presidents Magrão, Dentinho, and Ari. Directors and current president Ale are also accompanying the caravan to provide support with logistics, banners, and other operational details.

According to the statement released by the supporters’ group, the veterans will take on the responsibility of representing the entity in the stadium and ensuring the traditional placement of the banner, a striking symbol of the black-and-white presence at away games. Internally, the decision was seen as a way to recognize the journey of these historic members and, at the same time, ensure the supporters’ presence in the stadium.

Behind the scenes, the fan group sought to overturn the punishment through legal initiatives. Corinthians also tried to change the decision, arguing that, since it was not directly involved in the incidents, its fans should not be sanctioned. However, the measure was upheld. Even so, tickets allocated to the visiting section sold out.

A caravan formed by the old guard, by those who carry decades of struggle, travel, and Corinthians in their hearts. Due to the punishment applied to the home team, only the elderly, women, and children will be allowed into Arena da Baixada. And, as always, when responsibility calls, Gaviões answers. It is up to them, our most experienced and respected members, to represent the entity and ensure the placement of the banner in the stadium. Off to Curitiba.
