Oliver Glasner says he is unsure as of yet whether Jean Philippe-Mateta will stay, or if he will go and Crystal Palace sign a replacement striker on Monday.
Mateta was not involved for Palace in the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest with the Palace striker keen on securing a move away from the club.
Palace are in talks over the signing of Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves should Mateta depart.
And speaking about the situation after the game, the Eagles boss said: “I know that Adam Wharton, Daichi Kamada and Evann Guessand will be training tomorrow and hopefully available for Brighton next Sunday.
“Then we have a pretty clear agreement and commitment that it’s either JP Mateta or somebody else. So, again, I don’t know how the situation is, but if JP leaves, somebody, a striker, a number nine comes in. And then let’s see what’s happening.
“But I would prefer not always talking the day before the deadline. My wish would be, you know, everything is sorted two weeks ago so we can train and can focus on developing, because that’s what I just spoke to my staff (about) this week.
“I think we have to make a step backwards. For me now, maybe two, three more players coming in then we have five or six new players all of a sudden.
“We start, for me, it feels like two years ago having to teach them how we want to play, how we want to attack. You can see too many misunderstandings right now. They have to get to know each other, the way we want to play, the areas we want to attack, the way we want to defend.
“Even Brennan (Johnson) is a new one, and Evan Guessand will be a new one.”
